John Part’s return to the Circus Tavern stage did not last as long as he would have hoped! The Canadian attended PDC Q-School just a couple of weeks ago to prepare for this event. But he was outplayed for the majority of this game.
John Walton 3-1 John Part
John Boy, the 2001 World Champion is still a regular feature in the Yorkshire A county darts team, and that regular competitive action seems to be setting him in good stead.
Terry Jenkins 3-1 Lisa Ashton
Terry ‘The Bull’ Jenkins continued his charge towards his first ever televised darts title. Jenkins has lost in 9 major TV finals in his career, but looks in fine form at the Circus Tavern.
Ashton did manage to win the 3rd set as the players returned from the break. But unfortunately didn’t have enough fire power to force a deciding set.
Dave Prins 3-0 John Lowe
Old Stone Face’s return to the oche delighted the crowd for nostalgia. But despite averaging a respectable 72, Lowe was unable to win a leg against the qualifier Prins.
The closest Lowe came was in the penultimate leg of the match. Requiring 72 Old Stone hit D18, but was unsuccessful with his the 2nd attempt required.
Following the match, Lowe admitted this may be the last time we see him in competitive action.
Larry Butler 3-2 Keith Deller
1983 World Champion Keith Deller was dumped out of the competition in his first match. Del Boy came up against Larry Butler, a man still playing regularly on the CDC tour!
While the Bald Eagle didn’t quite deliver the level of performance he managed in round one, he delivered in the key moments of the match.
