Wiles Claims Latest Tendring Masters

THE second Tendring Darts Masters (Rab Scott Trophy) Qualifier, held at Thorpe Le-Soken Sports and Social Club in Essex, proved to be an electrifying affair, with 77 participants vying for victory. 

Essex County player, Michael Wiles from Witham showcased his exceptional skill and experience to emerge triumphant, adding another remarkable achievement to his illustrious career.  

Wiles, a seasoned competitor in the darts circuit, boasts an impressive resume, including victories at the 2012 and 2013 Essex Open competitions and multiple qualifications for the prestigious Winmau World Masters.

His talent was further highlighted by his qualification for the PDC UK Open in 2012, cementing his status as a formidable amateur player in the sport. 

In the final Wiles faced off against Tony Osborne of Brightlingsea, the Essex County Player Manager. In a gripping showdown, Wiles demonstrated his prowess, defeating Osborne 3-1 to claim the event and the qualifying place.

The journey to the final was filled with intense competition. In Group 1, Paul Hawkins of St Osyth emerged victorious, overcoming former Essex County player Paul Walker in the quarter-finals.  

  Meanwhile, in Group 2, Osborne secured his spot in the final by defeating qualifier 1 finalist and Suffolk County ‘A’ player Paul Williams in the Quarter Finals. 

Group 3 saw former Essex County player Andrew Currivan of Walton advancing to the semi-finals after defeating Essex County player Danny McIntyre in the quarter-finals. 

In Group 4, Wiles asserted his dominance by defeating  Clacton’s Mark Barnes in the quarter-finals on his path to victory. 

The semi-finals showcased thrilling matchups, with Osborne defeating Hawkins 3-1 and Wiles overcoming Andrew Currivan 3-1 to set the stage for the final showdown.  

Marcus Smith served as the MC for the semi-finals and final, with Kevin Harvey handling the chalking duties.
