Ross Montgomery and Luc Peters picked up Two-Year PDC Tour Cards on Friday, in coming through their respective Q School fields in the UK & Europe, on the penultimate day of the Final Stage in Milton Keynes and Niedernhausen.
Days 1 & 2 saw James Wilson and Darren Webster regain their Tour Cards in the UK, with Jose Justicia regaining his in Europe and Brian Raman picking up one for the first time in his career.
UK Q School
Scottish Veteran, Ross Montgomery, who entered Day 3 having not picked up a single point on the Order of Merit from the opening two days, reached the decider, after recording victories over Ted Evetts, Andy Jenkins, Chris Quantock, Simon Stevenson, Connor Scutt and John O’Shea, to set up a clash with Jamie Clark.
The final began with the pair breaking each other’s throw for the opening four legs, with Clark winning legs in 21 and 12 darts, with Montgomery firing in two 16 darters. The Scotsman then won four legs on the spin, with winning legs coming in 18,18,20 and 14 darts respectively, to take the tie, 6-2, and pick up a Tour Card for the first time in his career, at just his first attempt at Q School.
Clark’s run to the final saw him record victories over David Ladley, Haupai Puha, Lisa Ashton, Scott Williams, Nick Fullwell and Kevin Burness. Despite being defeated in the decider, Clark has secured a Tour Card for the first time via the Order of Merit, should he choose to opt out of the final day on Saturday, as he sits top on 10 points.
European Q School
Dutchman Luc Peters, who featured regularly on the PDC Pro Tour in 2021, won a two-year Tour Card for the first time in his career, as he reached the decider, by recording victories over Kristiaan De Boer, Jimmy Hendriks, Patrick Van den Boogaard, Benito Van de Pas, Patrick Peters and Danny Jansen, to set up a clash with Mario Vandenbogaerde.
The final began with Vandenbogaerde breaking Peters’ throw in the opener in 18 darts, before following up with a 16 dart hold to move 2-0 up. The pair then held throw for the following three legs, before Peters broke back in leg six to square the match up at 3-3. The pair then held throw again for the following three legs, with Peters sealing victory in leg ten with an 18 darter to pick up a Tour Card for the first time in his career.
Vandenbogaerde’s run to a 2nd final in 3 days saw him record victories over Maikel Mossou, Ricardo Pietreczko, Gian Van Veen, Derk Telnekes and Kevin Doets. Despite being denied once again in a final, the Belgian has secured a two-year Tour Card via the Order of Merit, as he sits top on 12 points.
Elsewhere, Holland’s Kevin Doets and North America’s Jules Van Donegan have also secured two-year Tour Cards for the first time in their careers via the Order of Merit, as they both sit 2nd and 3rd respectively on 8 points each.
PDC Q School concludes on Saturday, in the UK and in Europe, with Day Four of the Final Stage with 1 automatic Tour Card up for grabs at each Q School, with the remaining Tour Cards going via the Order of Merit, as play commences at 12:00 CET in Europe and 12:00 GMT in the UK.
